And then there were books!

I feel like a groundhog buried beneath the snow in our backyard, only I do pop my head out now and then to enjoy the scenery. This month has seen me more buried than normal with double deadlines and my date to have everything finished fast approaching. I feel like I have ignored everyone in my flurry of book activity…so please bear with me while I play catch-up. First, let me back-track a week to the first book signing for Rachel at Woodside Bible Church, January 19, 2014. What a wonderful event! The bookstore always does such a fabulous job, and this year’s was the best yet. I loved talking to everyone who stopped by – so if you did and if you’re reading this – thank you! God gave so many great opportunities to talk to people I have never met before and some long-time friends who made the day even better! I’m including some pictures throughout this post to give you a peek into the event.

The signing, which was held between church services lasted four hours. By then I was ready for a nap! But I’d received edits for Rahab in the meantime, and the changes that were needed caused a bit of pondering. Of course, a nap is a good place to ponder, and after a rest I found my groove and then spent this past week cranking through seven pages of edits. My editor is wonderful and would have given me plenty of time to finish, but I am what you might call “driven” and wanted to finish quickly because I have a novella due March 15 and I really want to start heavy research on Deborah’s story (due in Dec.).

I also pressure myself because I need a vacation. (Weird, yes?) I can’t let myself take that vacation and truly relax with heavy deadlines looming. So I just work to finish them early. Of course, if I can’t, I can’t. I still have time. But I must admit, it feels really good to check off “done” on my to-do list!

In the middle of all of this, we are gearing up for Rachel’s release! This Saturday!!! February 1, 2014 will launch a big contest with prizes I wish I could win. 🙂 Stayed tuned for full details coming by the end of this week. I can’t wait to share them with you!

In the meantime, stay warm! The cold in our area has hit the negative digits and schools have been closed far more this month than usual. By the end of the week we will have a warming trend into the 20’s! Almost to freezing and it will feel balmy. Oh the things we adjust to when we must.

Selah~
