BATHSHEBA in RT gets TOP PICK 4 1/2 stars!!!

Today has been a pretty exciting day. I woke up to an email from my publicist with news of a nice review from a well-known reviewer, which I can share in a few weeks, after it is printed. Then a short while later I got news of another review, this time in Romantic Times, better known now as RT Book Reviews.
Both Michal and Abigail were reviewed by RT and each had received 4 stars. The best rating is 4 1/2 stars Gold which means Phenominal – in a class by itself. The next best is 4 1/2 which means Fantastic – a keeper, then 4 which means Compelling – page turner, 3 – Enjoyable – pleasant read, 2 – Problematic – may struggle to finish, and 1 – Severely Flawed – pass on this one. I hoped that Bathsheba would get at least the same 4 stars as the first two had received. (It’s hard to accept less, isn’t it?)

Well, when I heard the news today about TOP PICK 4 1/2 stars, I really was surprised. Totally unexpected. (I’m not sure where TOP PICK fits with Gold – are they the same? Maybe I’ll asks someone who knows one of these days.) But I think TOP PICK is something else.

My publisher sent me a picture of the review, which I’m posting here. Here is the reviewer’s comment:

Smith’s portrayal of how women lived in Old Testament times and her research of the wives of King David give this series authentic appeal. The series ends on a high note with the most famous of the wives of David. It’s magnificent!

Wow! And on top of all of this? The sun shone ALL day! Amazing how much better I feel when the clouds are gone.

It’s been a very nice day!

Shalom and Selah~
