I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a summer as much as I have this one. Perhaps it’s the nature surrounding us. I’m still getting used to the beauty we see out of our window each day.
Last week we returned from a mini trip north to visit friends who have a cabin near Higgins Lake. Floating in the lake with a good friend is so refreshing! We golfed. Um…yeah…don’t ask. I can’t even blame it on the heat. I just don’t know how to play the game that well.
So we tried miniature golf. On a few holes, I managed to do pretty well. But the heat really did get to me then. No shade. That ice cream later sure tasted good! And the breakfast they fed us on our last day was amazing!
I was able to capture sunrise and sunset on the water, which was so fun. So pretty. Then we came home and found that the birds were completely out of feed. They weren’t too happy with us.
Since hubby began dismantling the fence and we refilled the feeder, we have had a bunny discover our petunias, a fat squirrel decide he would eat the feed that fell on the ground, and today as I sat outside to write, three cranes meandered past. One stepped around the fence as if to say “hello” then turned around and followed his friends to the next yard.
Did I mention I love wildlife? I only wish we could have raised our kids in this more rural area. I’m not sure if they would have liked it, but we do now. Then again, God’s timing is never wrong.
Besides watching the cardinals and the sweet yellow finch land on the windowsill to look inside–maybe he was looking for Tiger?–I’ve been working on Noah’s wife. I’m about one-third of the way through the third try of a first draft. I’ve scrapped over twenty thousand words, which is actually rather painful. But it’s beginning to take shape. I decided I needed to slow down and enjoy the process more. I’ve been trying to get in too many words each day and I can’t sustain that. It’s easier now.
I’ve also taken a renewed interest in essential oils with some interesting results. And I organized my pantry. You know, fun stuff that needs to be done. It actually is enjoyable to accomplish something that I’d been putting off. Now I know what food we’ve got and where to find it.
I also had a meeting with Revell today about organizing a Street Team. More on that in coming weeks while I work with my assistant to figure it out.
How about you? Are you enjoying your summer? What is your favorite thing you’ve done so far this summer or this year?
Be blessed!
