Be patient with each other

I must admit, I struggle with patience. You too? I know I’m not alone in this. We are an impatient society. An instant everything world.

Some possible examples: do I push past that elderly person who is walking way too slowly? Do I lay on the horn or start yelling when a driver pulls into the left lane (in front of me) and drives five miles under the speed limit?

Do I tap my foot and sigh impatiently when I’m forced to wait in an exceptionally long line? Or any line at all?

We get the picture. But what about impatience with a child who can’t tie their shoes fast enough and is making us late? Or worse, argues with us when we want them to obey?

Then there is impatience with God. That’s the one I struggle with most. I want Him to act when I ask, like He did when He walked the earth and healed “immediately”. But the thing is, I think one of God’s favorite words is “wait” and patiently is often tacked onto that word.

Love waits. It waits for people, making allowance for each others faults AND their weaknesses.

Love waits. It waits for God because God knows what He’s doing. He knows exactly what is going on and He will act when the time is perfect. I don’t need to try to convince Him that I know best. I absolutely don’t.

ALWAYS be humble and gentle. Be patient. Wait patiently. Impossible tasks but for the grace of God. But thankfully, He gives us that grace. All we need to do is ask.
