Facebook, Super 8, memories, and other stuff…

I keep reminding myself that Facebook is a free social network. I can’t expect them to have a dedicated customer service section where you can actually talk to a live person to fix a problem with their site. Still…I have spent far too much time trying to figure out how to do just that this week. You would think adding an email address to a profile account would be no problem…but this is not a perfect world…
We’ve been experiencing a bit of the empty nest this week while our youngest is in California visiting his brothers. Empty nests work better for birds than for former homeschooling moms. Perhaps this is not a good attitude to have. I keep reminding myself that quiet has its benefits…though I am still trying to figure out what they are.

I have also come to a standstill near the end of my current work-in-progress. I know how I want it to end, but I was dying to go back and reread. When months go by between the writing of various scenes, one can forget what was written in the beginning. (During the first draft, that is.) Still, sometimes I wonder what has become of my memory…

We went to see Super 8 last night. Memories returned in full force watching that movie. Oh for the days of young boys with video cameras making movies in the family room, the living room, up the stairs…then in later years, young men filming scripted stories outside in the maple tree, down the hill at the park, across town at the film school, and so much more. I’m thinking those script writers somehow got hold of my boys’ childhood antics…

I am enjoying the cooler temperatures this latter part of the week. (Temps hit 100 on Wednesday.) But in the 70s is great weather for bike rides to the park where the birds sing and wind whips my hair and prayer is breath. I think biking has become my favorite form of exercise.

I’ve added several new books to my TBR (to-be-read) pile in the past few weeks. I handed off three to my mom, who will have them read before I finish the 500+ page tome I’m working through right now. I keep reminding myself that it doesn’t matter how fast I read…

Shalom~
