The day is almost here! A week from today She Walked Before Us releases! September 15, 2020. This is also the day of the FaceBook Launch Party. I’ve seen the prizes, and they’re pretty cool. I hope you can make it. The party will be held on my FaceBook Author Page at 7:00 p.m EST. Ends at 7:30 p.m. EST. Join me and my publicist to ask me any questions about the book, writing, my favorite pet, favorite treat, what I would never eat, and what I wish I could eat every day. Or anything else you can think to ask—within reason and respect, of course.
Asking questions gets your name in the pool for the drawing for the prizes. So please come prepared for some fun.
This Wednesday I’m taping an interview for She Walked Before Us with Moody radio. And next month I’ll be live online/TV with Igniting a Nation’s Rabbi Eric Walker. I’m looking forward to both of them!
In between all of the fun of a book release, I will soon be working on the final edits for Miriam’s Song. Also in September, Her Source of Strength, Raya’s Story will release from Guideposts. The link takes you to their Ordinary Women of the Bible series. If you follow their direction, they will tell you how to get Ray’a’s Story as well as the other biblical novels in the collection.
In the middle of this we are going to do a little traveling, which makes for a very busy month.
Of course, all of this comes at a time when our whole world is still uncertain. Having so many restrictions put upon us makes getting around a challenge. And most of us find ourselves still spending more time at home than we ever have before.
While we don’t get much time to be with people other than each other, we are still working on our house, preparing to sell it in the next year or less—hopefully. I’m encouraged by the progress my hubby is making, and even the small part I can do by cleaning out almost all of my cupboards. One more pantry cupboard to go through and I can already tell you how nice it is to be able to find what I’m looking for. Why do we hang on to so much stuff?
As I look forward to releasing She Walked Before Us into the world, I’m mindful of the trials and triumphs these women in Scripture faced. This book was harder to write than I anticipated. I thought that because I’d written a novel on each of these women that the nonfiction version would be easy. I know now that I should never think that about any book! Nothing is easy to write. Not even a blog post.
I pray for each of you who might read She Walked Before Us, that God would inspire you to seek Him more in the pages of His Book. I hope you see She Walked as an aid to help with your own study of each of these women. Or just read it to learn and ponder what they went through.
Lastly, as I work on releases and edits, I thank God for providing a new way to write the next story. Lockdown has made it impossible to visit a bookstore or write at a coffee shop or just gain insight and be refreshed by being with other people. We are made for community, and without it, we can find even working from home—something I’ve always done—hard to motivate to do. But then God provided a friend to write with—kind of like a buddy system. We meet online each day (unless we can’t) and we set the timer and write for a specific period of time. It has helped me tremendously in getting the first draft of Joseph’s story down.
How about you? What ways do you reach out to people around you or motivate yourself to work when no one is looking? It’s easy to skip out on the amount of time we should put into our work day. It’s not so easy to stay focused in an unfocused and uncertain world.
I hope She Walked Before Us blesses you and that you find ways to creatively love those you know whether they are near or far. There is always something to thank the Lord for. And today I am thankful for you, my readers. Thank you for sticking with me through the years and for being so supportive. It makes me want to pick up the computer and start typing those next lines.
Until next time~
